towards the organization of a more orderly marketing system, namely
through the implementation of joint plans, and of production development.

SYNDICAT
DES PRODUCTEURS D'ŒUFS D'INCUBATION DU QUÉBEC
A well controlled marketing
Founded in 1973, the Syndicat represents all
Québec hatching eggs producers. These produce fertilized
eggs from which chicks will be |
born after their incubation in hatcheries. Depending
on the race, the chicks will either become broiler chicken or table
egg laying hens. The Syndicat has been responsible for managing the
marketing joint plan since its adoption in 1981. In this regard, the
Syndicat enforces a production quotas policy to meet the needs of
Québec’s poultry industry. The Syndicat also negotiates
marketing conditions with purchasers associations on behalf of all
producers. On the national scene, the Syndicate has been a signatory of the federal-provincial agreement regarding hatching eggs since 1986 and, in this role, participates in the administration of the national supply management program. The Syndicate is a member of the Canadian Hatching Egg Producers..

Created in 1964, the Fédération
des producteurs d'œufs de consommation was the first to have
a joint plan that included regulation on quotas and contributions.
The Fédération is also a partner of the provincial agreement
that established the first global marketing system in 1971 under the
terms of the federal Farm Products Agencies Act. Since then, the Fédération
has maintained a 17.8% share of the Canadian market. Table eggs producers
want to provide Québec consumers with a production of superior
quality. To this end, the Fédération and its partners
exercise stringent controls at every step of the production process.
Quebec’s poultry producers consider their product, the egg, to be one of cornerstone of our food heritage.

1974, Quebec’sapple producers created the Fédération des producteurs de pommes du Québec. In 1978, producers voted to set up a joint plan to regulate marketing conditions and to foster development of the economic, social and moral interests of its members.
Besides managing and administering the joint plan, the Fédération works to promote Quebec apples to the general public. It coordinates information and advertising campaigns to convey the nutritional benefits of apples and to promote the four main varieties produced in Quebec: McIntosh, Cortland, Spartan and Empire.

Pig production is the second most important sector
of Québec’s agriculture. Thanks to the efforts and energy
of all Québec pig producers, this production succeeded in modernizing
itself while maintaining human-scale operations. Collectively, the
men and women involved in pig farming succeeded in meeting great challenges
in the past and they continue to do so every day.
The continued improvement in meat quality,
already a favourite with consumers here and elsewhere, protecting
the environment, optimizing marketing systems, and increasing economic
benefits for Québec society are all issues that guide and
will continue to guide pig producers’actions. The Fédération
des producteurs de porcs du Québec dates back to 1966.

FÉDÉRATION
DE LA RELÈVE AGRICOLE DU QUÉBEC Facilitating
access to agriculture The Fédération
de la relève agricole was created in 1982. Its members
are young people aged 16 to 35 who are interested in |
agriculture, are preparing to become farm producers
or recently entered agriculture. The Fédération is made
up of some 50 local groups and 13 regional syndicates.

SYNDICAT
DES PRODUCTEURS EN SERRE DU QUÉBEC Colourful,
fresh and delicious
|
Québec greenhouse growers are passionate about their work and
they intend to make a living of it for many years to come. They invest
in their professional association to ensure proper recognition for
their production and better support for its development. The challenges
facing the Syndicat des producteurs en serre du Québec are
many. For example, producers want to have access to energy sources
(a major factor in greenhouse growing) for the same price as their
Ontario and British Columbia competitors. Producers also want their
businesses to be able to grow their products according to demand.
The Syndicat des producteurs en serre du Québec was set up
in 1983.
