| Throughout its 84 years
of existence, the UPA has always been concerned with anticipating
the future and adopting directions that would allow it to better
deal with tomorrow’s challenges. More than once, this allowed
the UPA to be at the forefront of issues and to play a leadership
role in the community. |

This section sets out some of our concerns and pursues
the tradition. Behind each theme this section addresses, you will discover
the trends that could very well influence Québec’s farm
sector in the coming years. We have tried to identify the issues that
more particularly concern each of these themes and set out the major
directions that will allow our organization to position itself for the
future.
The result of a large-scale consultation exercise, these directions
mark the way our members want their organization to take. They indicate
where we intend to go in the coming years, what our development priorities
and our main areas of intervention will be. It is the expression of our
common choices. The goal is always the same: to defend the interests
of farm producers and to support the development of our agriculture.
