What benefits are open to farm producers?

General actions undertaken by the UPA

The UPA is your official voice. Our role is to represent you to political, governmental, regional, and municipal leaders as well as stakeholders in the agri-food sector and beyond. We speak on behalf of agriculture as a whole. Learn more about what the UPA does  (613 KB)

Thanks to the UPA’s advocacy over the years, a number of benefits for farm producers have been implemented, enhanced, and maintained. Some of the major examples can be found here:

Government assistance programs

Several programs have been created to support different kinds of activity and development. Find out more

Farm property tax credit program

This program is a significant benefit for producers. It exempts them from transfer taxes and provides an annual property and school tax credit (representing about 70% of their total tax bill based on the applicable[SI1]  criteria, including paying your annual UPA assessment). What member benefits are open to farm producers?

When you become a UPA member, you join Quebec’s largest network of farm and forest producers. Membership is voluntary and does not cost any extra money. Members have access to the following benefits: 

Empowerment: participating in democratic life

Become an active participant in your organization, with voting rights at AGMs (see Consultations and AGMs section) and the change to represent producers just like you by serving as a director (see Becoming a director section).

Disability insurance (subscription required – $)

Coverage offered by Solo Sécuriterre – in collaboration with Desjardins.

Accidental death insurance

Beneficiaries receive a $2,000 payment in the event of accidental death (in collaboration with Desjardins). For further information, email the UPA Dues Service at cotisations@upa.qc.ca or call 1-855-534-7120.
